I am a huge advocate for raw fed dogs and I supplement my dogs diet with raw as much as I can. I really love the quality of Primal Pet Foods and all the nutritional benefits feeding raw has to offer. Before feeding, remember to properly transition your pets food slowly, allow at least one week for your dogs digestive system to properly adjust from the highly processed heat treated food (if that is what you are currently feeding). For 1-3 days slowly mix the freeze dried formulas into your pets current food. Many pets may transition to raw quickly while others may take a little more time especially if the pet has a history of digestive issues. *remember to always consult your vet if you have any serious concerns. To gauge how your pups system is accepting the new diet, your pet’s stool should be monitored. On a freeze dried diet, your pet’s stool size and volume will be greatly reduced. Stool will be come smaller, firm and will have less offensive odor. If the stool is soft and loose as a result from the transition, introduce the freeze dried food more slowly. Goose gets 16 nuggets a day, but this is his breakfast and tonight he will get 8 more (check portions on the back of the bag to find the correct portion size for your pet)

Goose is very treat motivated but he went even crazier and started salivating, so we use these treats as high value treats when learning new tricks or shaping new behaviors. I love that this treat has only one ingredient, beef liver! The little nuggets of deliciousness are crunchy and Goose finds them irresistible, the treat is a single source protein, the treats are for dogs & cats, it is a high protein snack, and is grain and gluten free, no preservatives, no added salt, and not added sugar. The Beef liver used is from antibiotic-free beef raised in the USA without added hormones.

Overall Review

My overall impression of Primal Pet Foods Freeze dried nuggets and treats, is I could tell after opening the bag of food and treats the quality was amazing. Everything looked and smelled fresh, Goose loved the food and treats. I felt good feeding him such a high quality meal and knew that he was getting all the proper nutrition. I would highly recommend Primal Freeze dried nuggets to anyone feeding raw, and who might have to be on the road or traveling and cant bring a ice chest with raw food in it. I actually used Primal Freeze dried nuggets when I went backpacking with Goose, it worked out perfect. It was light weight to carry and he got to enjoy a hardy meal out on the trail.
