Get ready for camping with the Midori Solo from Eureka!

It’s almost that time of the year again! The snow will start melting, rivers and streams will be rushing and wildflowers will be in full bloom! Spring is coming and the countdown has begun! Start cleaning off your backpacking and camping gear and start to take inventory, but if you’re looking for a new lightweight 1 person tent that will fit you and a small to medium size dog, you should check out the Midori Solo from Eureka!

Our friends over at Eureka! sent over a Midori Solo for Goose and me to try out on our backpacking trips and I can tell you right now it’s my favorite! I do have a 2 person tent (not a Eureka!) and even though it is roomy its a bit too much-unused room, I am only 5’4 and Goose is 40 pounds so with the both of us in the tent there is quite a bit of dead space. And I wanted to try and shed as much weight as I could when backpacking. Well, the Midori Solo is perfect for our backpacking needs.

Key Features of the Midori Solo

  • 2-pole High-performance rectangular dome tent
  • Side-entry design creates a large door area for easy access
  • Lightweight aluminum frame, clips, and post & grommet assembly for fast and easy set-up
  • A vertical strut at the front of the vestibule creates extra storage volume (V3 System)
  • Vectored fly-to-tent body pullouts enhance air flow between fabric layers, increase interior volume and add wind stability (V3 System)
  • Hooded fly vents combine with mesh panels in the tent body to maximize air circulation (V3 System)
  • Full-coverage fly for all-weather protection
  • Bathtub floor protects against splashing and standing water
  • Two interior pockets and a gear loft keep essentials close at hand

With the Midori Solo being a three season tent it is perfect for our weather here in the desert and when we go north to camp in the forest the rain fly is perfect for keeping us dry! I love the large vestibule so I can store my pack and boots outside of my tent and I know they will stay dry. The one large door is perfect for letting in plenty of air and is very easy to get in and out of. The Gear hammock and two storage pockets make it easy to store my headlamp, chap stick or a light layer in.

Overall a great sturdy lightweight tent perfect for backpacking! The Midori Solo may say “Solo” but it’s far from that if you have a small or medium sized dog it quickly becomes a tent for two!

Want one of your own then go check out Eureka! and all the other tents, stoves and sleeping systems they have to offer!

  1. I’m so not ready for spring, but I do love the idea of a solo tent for me and my pupsters 🙂 Not sure why I’ve been lugging around a double, when he sleeps on my feet!
